Cooke, Fannin & Grayson County Juvenile Detention Center

The Juvenile Detention Center primarily serves Cooke, Fannin & Grayson counties. The provides detention center beds to other counties throughout the North Texas region based on space availability.

Admissions

Law enforcement agencies within Grayson County can call the facility at (903) 786-6326 regarding referrals. All other agencies must contact the juvenile probation department within their county.

Phone, Mail & Visitation

Juveniles may make outgoing phone calls to parents/guardians once per week. Except for attorney and probation officer calls, juveniles may not receive incoming phone calls. Juveniles may send two letters per week, and receive incoming mail. All mail will be scanned for contraband. Juveniles may receive one visit per week from parents/guardians. Visits are limited to two individuals, and the visitor must be on the approved visitor list provided by the probation officer. Visits must be scheduled in advance. You must verify with the juveniles probation officer if you have been added to the visitor list.

  • School

    Juveniles will attend school while at the facility. All education services are provided through Sherman ISD.

  • Meals

    Juveniles will be provided with three meals each day. All meals comply with the National School Breakfast & Lunch programs. In addition to meals, snacks are provided throughout the day.

  • Medical

    The facility has medical staff on site and has other providers available locally. Juveniles have the ability to submit medical reports to staff while a resident of the facility.
